Demands

As Zimbabwe enters a new era in the dawn of the unity government, Save Zimbabwe Now! has these five demands:

Ø      Stop abductions, torture and all forms of repressive violence and release all political prisoners immediately

Ø      Allow Humanitarian agencies responding to the deepening Cholera and HIV/AIDS epidemic and the food shortages to work in an unrestricted environment.

Ø      Scrap unjust legislation that restricts the right to organise and tell the world what is going on including the Access to Information and the Protection of Privacy Act (AIPPA) and the Public Order and Security Act (POSA).

Ø      Hold all parties accountable to the letter and the spirit of the power-sharing deal signed on 27 January 2009

Ø      Create the conditions for the adoption of a people-driven constitution and a legitimate free and fair election

“It is important that the people of Zimbabwe know that they are not forgotten. Ubuntu has become a cheapened term but the Save Zimbabwe Now! campaign revitalizes this concept. When we allow others to become dehumanized, then we ourselves become dehumanized and it is God’s intention is for us to all be family, as the notion of Ubuntu reinforces.”
