Leaders are chosen by the people for the people. Mr Mugabe please lay down your inflated ego and do what is best for the people of Zimbabwe. If leadership positions become immortal, Do aspiring young leaders lose their dreams of one day holding the top seat with high esteem and dignity. I am a student organizer of World Vision UBC, a non-student profit society affiliated with World vision. We have an upcoming 30hr famine and we will remember and dedicate our event to Save Zimbabwe Now. I come from such fortunate economic and social surroundings and am able to enjoy privileges not known by so many people in a devastated country like Zimbabwe.
Lets help each other in raising awareness and building a stronger voice. Together we can create a movement and make a difference. I urge all government officials of Zimbabwe to act upon this situation and alleviate the current plight of its citizen.

Dr Sayaka FUNADA-CLASSEN

To the people of Zimbabwe.
It was 1994 when I first visited your country.  I came from Mozambique where 10 years of armed struggle and 16 years of conflict just ended.  Zimbabwe then was a shining example of the future of the African nations. It is really time to consolidate all our efforts to stop this destruction.  You are able people, and you have devoted so much to freedom and peace of Africa and the world. I, as a member of the Japanese civil society, would like to express that despite this geographical distance between you and us, we are with you.
My family join hunger-strike campaing although it is now closing because I and my family would like to express our solidarity.

Dear Kumi,

We are pledging to fast for at least one day for Zimbabwe in the knowledge that we are lucky enough to have a choice.

You and your fellow campaigners are an inspiration to so many. You have opened our eyes to the current plight of the Zimbabwean people and helped us to realise just how privileged we truly are and how so many are suffering untold poverty, loss of liberty and starvation at the hands of an evil man.

I only hope that our humble and small show of solidarity will have some good effect on leading such a beautiful country to freedom, peace and stability once more.

One voice is so small, but  together many voices are like thunder.

Thank you for uniting the world.

You are in our thoughts for your fast and beyond. All our best wishes, strength and love across the oceans. Juliet and Peter Staveley in Tuscany, Italy.

Lillian Bususu-Phiri

Thanks Kumi for awakening my spirit for the Zimbabwean people, being Zim myself this is an encouragement to the Zim people to let them know that this is their time to stand and watch what the Lord is about to do in our nation.  The story of Martha, Mary and their brother Lazurus has a significant bearing to the situation in Zim.
When Lazurus died Martha and Mary were baffled that Jesus had not arrived to save their brother even when they had sent a message to the Lord to come quickly. They lost all hope because they had buried Lazurus. Our health, education, economy e.t.c is in the tomb just like Lazurus was, but watch what the Lord will do when he arrives. He wants to show off with the Zimbabwean nation, we shall indeed say this is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our eyes. There is no Kingdom that will live forever.  We have sent a message to the Lord by fasting, praying, night vigil and all and our neighbours like Kumi have come to mourn with us. We have done all, and the word says “having done all to stand”. We have sent a message to the Lord and even if he is late, he will surely show up.  He is on his way.  THE PROPHECY FOR THE ZIMBABWEAN PEOPLE IS ISAIAH 60. PROPHESY THE WORDS IN ISAIAH 60 EVERDAY AT YOUR CONGREGATIONS, HOMES, CELLS AND ANY GATHERINGS. ZIMBABWE IS A BEACON TO ALL NATIONS. THE LORD MAYBE LATE BUT HE IS STILL ON TIME.

24 hours every Wed for 3 months
If we expect others to make personal sacrifices in the struggle we must demonstrate our solidarity and support. Fasting for 24 hours each Wednesday for 3 months is a small and seemingly insignificant sacrifice for the individual but collectively we can push for change. May peace and ubuntu prevail

Johann Maree

Church joins Fast
Rondebosch United Church in Cape Town is in solidarity with the Save Zimbabwe Now campaign and with the suffering people of Zimbabwe. The church has a Zimbabwe People’s Support Group led by Andrew Hartnack. Some members of the Church have decided to join the Fast for a period of three months. We are fasting one day a week (Wednesdays). As a minimum the fast entails taking no food from sunrise to sunset. Only water will be consumed during the day.

We think that pressure is still required on Mugabe and ZANU-PF to ensure that there is meaningful power-sharing with the MDC and that the MDC and all other movements struggling for the end of oppression in Zimbabwe are not suppressed or curtailed in any way through the illegitimate use of state force. Johann Maree (one of the fasting parishioners of Rondebosch United Church)

Pledge to fast one day a week until Robert Mugabe and his illegal regime are removed from power. This is the least that I can do as penance for the shame that I have of being a South African whose Government has unashamedly supported Mugabe and allowed the situation to deteriate to the extent that it has. Thabo Mbeki, Kgalema Motlanthe and co should stand alongside Mugabe in the dock at the Hague to answer charges of gross human rights violations - totally contrary  to the South African Constitution.

Fast one day
I’ll be fasting this Sunday, not out of some silly wish to “feel what the Zimbabweans are feeling”, but as a symbolic show of solidarity. I will not fast any more than that, because your mind and body don’t function well when you are deprived of food, which will impede you when taking more direct and less symbolic action in your life, to help yourself or others.

Lesley Watson
One day a week at least
I am fasting to give emphasis to my prayers that God will intervene to break the stranglehold Mugabe and his militia have over Zimbabwe, to join other like-minded people in pressuring world leaders to intervene and take the leadership role away from SA who has dismally failed the people of Zimbabwe.

Robert Mugabe is despicable. How he has managed to pillage and plunder his own people and then be protected by them I will never understand. He LOST the election and he should be forcibly removed by the military. He should be bound and gagged and not be allowed to manipulate his countrymen. The poor people of Zimbabwe deserve better. It just shows people who take advantage of power just do not deserve it and can not control it and should have it taken away.

I will fast in support of your campaign EVERY FRIDAY until Mugabe is assassinated or loses power. Come on everyone. Show your support for the Zimbabweans or African Leaders to rise up against this evil man. Sydney, Australia

! grew up in a beautiful nation and now i see it fall to pieces. i had the best education but my siblings can’t enjoy the same….i had the greatest chances to become the best i could be and the opportunity to grow, its neither fair nor right that others should be denied the same because of someone else’s mistakes. Lets work together to make things right, i cannot wait for the day when i can freely go home and not worry that tomorrow there’ll be nothing to eat. i cannot wait to see Zimbabwe shine once again with the wealth, vegetation and peace represented with pride on her beautiful flag, when the red ceases to stand for more blood shed unnecessarily and retains its stature as a symbol of pride in those who gave their lives for the right causes. When black represents the people and not the darkness and despair in their hearts. As my way of pushing for peace i choose to skip a meal everyday and remember all those in Zimbabwe forced to spend a day without food by reasons beyond their control

7  Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter– when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
