Dumisa Ntsebeza’s message of support

 

Dumisa Ntsebeza took over the third leg of  the relay fast and hunger strike for 21 days from Nomboniso Gasa on the 4th of March 2009. Nomboniso who is currently in New York City, USA will hand over the hunger strike at an event in NYC while Ntsebeza will at a press conference take it over.

 

Civil Society Consultation Meeting 26 February 2009

The Zimbabwe Solidarity Forum in South Africa (ZSF), the Institute of Democracy in South Africa (IDASA), and Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA) held a broad civil society consultative meeting on the Zimbabwean Crisis at the Garden Court Hotel, OR Tambo International Airport. A communique from the meeting will be released with findings and a way forward.

 

Press Conference on Musina Fact Finding Mission 19 - 21 February

Nomboniso Gasa went to the border town of Musina to investigate the lives of refugees living in the Musina Showground’s. There she met with various stake holders, civil society and churches. The issues of gender based violence, hunger, lack of access to healthcare and unacompanied minors were stark and distressing. The press conference was held at the Commission for Gender Equity at the Women’s Goal, Constitution Hill, Johannesburg on the 24th of February. A short film was produced by Save Zimbabwe Now.

 

Zimbabwe Update - WITS University, Great Hall 16 February 2009 13:00 - 15:00, JohannesburgRepresentatives of the Save Zimbabwe Now! Solidarity Movement tried to present a memorandum of demands to President Kgalema Motlanthe. This provoked a hostile response with police firing rubber bullets at the many protestors who were present and led to injuries to numerous individuals.

Launch of the Save Zimbabwe Now campaign on 21 January 2009 at the Central Methodist Mission in Johannesburg

The launch was hosted by several members from a range of organisations who share the comon hope that Zimbabwe will soon be free and safe for all her citizens.
